Join me in this class where we will learn how to create a Parisian collage inspired by Marie Antoinette and the Rococo style of her era. This course contains a workbook with than 25 pages of romantic, Parisian-inspired collage materials, from hand-designed backgrounds to hand-painted illustrations you can use to craft your own story.

Class Summary

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to roam the halls of Versaille during Marie Antoinette’s reign? Do you love the romantic look of Rococo, and want to know more about the aesthetic? In this class we will learn how to create a Parisian collage inspired by Marie Antoinette and the Rococo style of her era. The provided class workbook provides high level information about Paris in the mid-late 1700s: Marie Antoinette's life, Versailles, and the aesthetic of Rococo. 

From there, the class workbook describes the process of how to make a collage as well as provides detailed worksheets to help you plan the goals of your collage story. The workbook also contains 26 pages of collage materials for you to use, from hand drawn illustrations to hand painted backgrounds!

Lastly, there are step by step videos to follow along and watch my own process of creating a collage. At the end of the class, you will have created a beautiful collage filled with sumptuous imagery and textures that celebrate the Parisienne Rococo aesthetic and tell a unique tale of your own choosing! 

What You Will Learn

How to Approach the Art of Collage:
Collage is a free-form art process that is accessible to all skill levels, yet for some it can be overwhelming. This class provides many tips and tricks to learning how to approach collage making simply, then craft a unique and comprehensive composition.

A Brief History of Paris and Marie Antoinette in the 1700s:
The artistic style of Rococo originated in Parisian during the mid to late 1700s. Learn more about this time period and the sumptuous aesthetic surrounding the era.

How to Use a Wide Variety of Materials to Collage a Unique Stories:
The printable workbook is filled with pages of collage materials, hand drawings, photographs, textures, vintage ephemera and more. Learn how to use the varied materials to craft your collage.

Content Included

  • 31 page printable workbook filled with history of the Rococo area, collage making process, worksheets and collage materials.
  • Several pages of hand made art/collage material and vintage ephemera to use in your collage.
  • Videos outlining how to create a collage and the step by step process to designing a complex composition.

Art Supply List

Below is a list of art supplies* you will need to complete the classes:
  • Pad of Watercolor paper (preferably a 9”x12” pad or something similar)
  • A few pieces of white letter sized paper
  • Watercolor set (any type, from children’s set to professional will do!)
  • Watercolor brush (I use a water brush, but an everyday brush will work too.)
  • Black waterproof pen (I prefer Micron: size 01, 03 and 05)
  • scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Magazine clippings if desired (there is plenty of collage material included in the class workbook)
  • Acrylic paints, white gel pen, colored pencils and other mediums as desired
*these supplies are not included.

Skill Level

This course is open to all skill levels. I will break down step by step how to complete the project. For more advanced artists, I welcome you adding your own personal flair to the lessons.
