In this class, we will start with a few quick warm up exercises talking about all the different types of fireworks and how we could render them. Following, I will walk you through step by step how to let watercolor do what it does best (read: gorgeous washes and unexpected bleeds) to create a colorful night display. At the end you will have a scene perfect to prop on your desk or send to a friend to remember the celebration!

Art Supply List

To create the art in this class, you will need the following supplies:
  • 8"x10" watercolor paper or a blank journal page (with multimedia or watercolor paper); some scrap watercolor paper for practice exercises
  • watercolor set
  • brush or water brush to paint watercolors
  • black pen (waterproof)
  • white gel pen and other paint pen markers (various colors as desired)

Watercolor a Night Sky with Fireworks

Now that we have practiced a few firework shapes, we are going to put it together and watercolor a night sky filled with fireworks. We will do this in 2 phases, first we will watercolor the background with big washes of color. Once dry we will then add the firework details with paint pens on top.

Conclusion
