What is a Wanderlust Creative Retreat?

This women-only creative retreat will provide a unique mix of engaging adventures at local historical sites in the region, immersive creative activities to enhance our experiences and plenty of relaxation time at a swoon-worthy villa. In the end, each traveler will leave with a one-of-a-kind creative journal, extraordinary memories of exploring Marrakech and a relaxed mind.

This retreat is for anyone looking to explore their world through a new creative lens - open up your curiosity about a location and use all your senses to discover the details around you.

Whether you are a self-proclaimed non-artist or seasoned sketcher, Betsy's approchable teaching style will lead you through an exciting week of creative travel adventures, from on-the-go experiences wandering in a souk to hands-on making at our relaxing villa. 

Journaling, photography, collaging, sketching, writing and watercolor, you will dabble in it all and come home with not only travel tales and new friendships but also an inspirational creative travel journal of your adventures and a new way to see your everyday!

Marrakech is located in the central high desert where days are warm, dry, and full of sunshine, nights are cool and breezy. This legendary kingdom has a rich culture and has been a center of art and learning since Roman times. Artists, poets and designers have been under it’s spell  for millennia. Famous for it’s handicrafts such as carpets, mosaics, leather goods and architecture, you can't help but be inspired by this alluring destination.

The Villa - Domaine Akhdar

Domaine Akhdar is a sprawl of pink terra-cotta villas and water gardens in keeping with the Arabic tradition of creating heaven on earth. Located just outside Marrakech at the foot of the Altas mountains, this luxury haven is the perfect place to retreat and create. Each villa has a pool, WIFI, private chef, spacious garden and is blessed with plenty of workspace and playspace. There is a large pool, clubhouse, tennis courts and pétanque court in the safely gated domaine.  The ancient desert city of Marrakech is 25 minutes away as is the airport.

Betsy Beier, Illustrator, Author, & Teacher
Betsy's mission is to help people of all creative abilities develop their own artistic practice and encourage them to see the world through a creative lens. Her unique and approachable teaching style encourages exploration of locations through storytelling, journaling, sketching, photography, writing, and collage.

Coco Kliks, Travellur
Betsy is excited to partner with Coco Kliks of Travellur to offer this custom creative retreat. Coco's extensive career in hospitality and event planning, as well as her years of experience hosting groups in Marrakech and a wide variety of other international locations, offer the perfect marriage with Betsy's creative curriculum. Their combined efforts will provide a safe, enriching and relaxing experience.
