Creative Wanderlust Tour

Paris, France: Explore, Sketch, Journal - A Creative Wanderlust Retreat with The Blue Walk

We wandered her neighborhoods, learned history, sketched our observations & discovered Paris beyond the guide book!

Guests embarked on a joyful, art-filled journey through Paris, where creativity and culture intertwined. Each day we focused on a different arrondissement, uncovering the history, charm, and hidden stories -- the artist life in Montmartre in the 1880s, the historic Tuileries gardens and birth of the French garden style, the street art movement in Belleville, and beyond.

With daily on-location art journaling lessons we fille our accordion-style journals with pop-up Eiffel Tower sketches, toile-inspired garden drawings, and collages with vintage ephemera. Participants captured their experiences through sketching, watercolor, writing, photography, and found materials. From peaceful mornings treasure-hunting at the marchés; afternoons sketching at an outdoor café in Luxembourg Gardens to and a magical sunset river cruise along the Seine, every moment sparked creativity.

The group formed lasting friendships, shared stories while wandering cobbled streets, and each returned home with a personal art journal—an unforgettable souvenir of Paris and a lasting spark of inspiration to bring creativity to the everyday.

Creative Journal Flip-Through

Samples of Some Paris Creative Art Journals

I see Paris from so many different lenses, historical, artistic, philosophic, and more! In capturing the spirit of our Paris adventure, I decided to create two different creative art journals to show how one experience can be seen so differently depending on context- your experience, your knowledge, your eyes, your adventures! Below are some flip-throughs and stills of my Paris art journals.

Eugène Delacroix's La Liberté Guidant le Peuple, which hangs proudly in the Louvre Museum in Paris, was my inspiration for this journal!
