A Peek Inside My Journals
My art journals/sketchbooks are where my life is explored, little moments from my Paris neighborhood, a ray of California sunshine on the San Francisco Bay, a color palette from a marché, a shop window or a tiny corner from my daily walk.
My journals are my home on paper. Living between two places has taught me that a journal can truly make me feel rooted despite "moving around." It’s a way of documenting the micro moments that make up this one crazy, amazing life.
Why a Journal Can Become Your Creative Home
Your journal doesn’t ask for perfection. In fact, I encourage you to make it LESS than perfect. It's just about presence.
It’s a place to:
collect colors
capture memories
pause and observe
jot some words
reflect on your days
hold your most-fabulous creative experiments
Over time, it becomes a companion — a record of where you’ve been and how you see the world.
A Simple Way to Start
Capture Your Day By Collaging Moments
Little scraps, words, colors, shapes, sketches, photos, etc. from your day. A receipt, a torn edge from a letter in the mail, a few words or sentence from an email your received, a quickly printed photo from your phone. Glue it, tape it, and scribble in your notebook. Let it be a record of where you are in this moment, on this day.
