Bonjour! I’m so glad you’re here.
Welcome to Postcards from a Creative Life, a tiny corner of my blog where I share wandering moments from Paris, California, and the sketchbook pages in between. Consider this your first postcard in our penpal relationship!
Postcard Story: Watching the Light in Montmartre
There’s a particular kind of light in Montmartre that feels, well, just heavenly- warm, golden, and ever changing. As I watched the sun move throughout the day across the facade Sacré-Cœur, I understood something Monet knew well:
“I now understand Monet’s obsession with light. Watching the morning, noon, and late afternoon sun on Sacré-Coeur is a masterpiece in motion.”
— from my handwritten postcard
Light transforms everything. And when we pause to notice it, creativity begins to gently wake up.
A Creative Prompt for You
Today, look for a moment of light — on your table, in your window, across your floor.
Snap a photo of it without overthinking. Do this throughout the day. How do the colors change?
Print & “Color-Your-Own” Postcard
Now for the fun part of this new Postcards from a Creative Life series- it's time for you to play creatively! Click on this image, print it out and make it your own. Color it with crayons, markers, watercolors. Use a wild color palette. Draw over the sketch lines however you see fit- thick, thin or sketchy! Or, have fun- rip scrap papers, glue, tape and collage on top of the image. Once done, fill out the postcard and mail to someone you love or mail to yourself describing the fun you had during the creative process!
